IT Strategy Consultant

The mission of the IT Strategy and Governance consultant within Group CIO Office is to support AXA Group CIO by structuring and developing support material for executive discussions and presentations related to AXA IT strategy. The role can also include leading a specific study on a chosen topic, in order to deliver Group IT position and advice.


Key responsibilities to be covered are:


  • Analyze various inputs from senior executives in Group IT, Group Operations and entities related to IT strategy, steer and structure discussions, create support material

  • Develop hypotheses, build scenarios, propose conclusions and present the outcomes in relevant formats (position papers, presentations, letters, etc.)

  • Manage participation from various senior stakeholders with own agendas and objectives, keeping alignment with AXA IT strategy, and in a collaborative yet persuasive manner

  • Bring value to the discussions and analysis through own experience, research and benchmarking

  • Produce clear, precise and synthetic documents supporting or resulting from strategic discussions, to be presented in Group governance instances (Management Committee, Board of Directors, entity governance, Group Operations governance)

  • Prepare, coordinate and follow-up strategic dialogues with Operating Companies’ executives

  • If need be, structure, lead and staff specific studies on a precise topic of interest

  • Liaise with other functions and departments (Group Corporate Development, Group Risk, Finance, Security..), in a transparent way with AXA business and customers interest at heart


In the particular context of transformation of the Group IT organization, structure and drive highly visible and strategic Programs, with stakeholders on CxO level:


  • Supervise execution of the Programs on schedule, on budget and delivering the capabilities and financials agreed in the Business Case

  • Ensure that effective Program Management methods are established and executed across a highly matrix global Program Team; methods include program planning and control, program governance, communications, change management, resourcing, budgeting, issue and risk management

  • Demonstrate high level of autonomy to control program and resolve program problems, issues and risks

  • Ensure effective governance and communication with senior executive management across Group IT (Group CIO, GO ELT), AXA Group and entities (CIO, CISO, CxO…), being able to challenge diverse inputs with diplomacy and drive to a suitable realistic solution in a timely manner

  • Ensure effective communication with external parties (external auditors, vendors) in the scope of Group CIO activities

  • Lead cross-market oversight committees related to programs in scope

  • Experience

    • 10-15 years experience in roles related to IT management/transversal projects, of which at least 5 to 10 years in business or management consulting in IT sector

    • Solid experience in interaction with senior (C-level) management of the company, understanding business drivers and influencing transversally in matrix environments

    • Excellent knowledge of IT industry and trends, knowledge of insurance business

    • Knowledge of AXA internal governance across entities a plus


  • Competencies

    • Excellent writing and presentation building skills, attention to detail and accuracy of the final result

    • Very strong capacity to analyze data, build simple models and work with hypotheses

    • Capacity to advance and make proposals with few initial elements and high level guidance (as opposed to executing tasks fully defined by the manager)

    • Autonomous, curious, and delivery driven; open and collaborative mindset

    • High level of maturity in people management and interaction, sensitivity to cultural aspects and ease in transnational environments

    • Familiar with basic financials (business case, budget, etc.)

    • Rigour, efficiency and strong organisational skills

    • Full fluency in spoken and written English required (native English speaker a plus); French optional
