The Role


We’re looking for a confident, experienced Operations Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our SME team.


You will be working as part of the senior management team, and will be a highly motivated individual, capable of leading your teams to deliver excellent service whilst achieving challenging growth targets. Your other core focus in this role will be supporting and developing your teams to create an environment that promotes responsibility and continual improvement.


It’s especially important that you keep a continual focus on financial management and seek opportunities to drive the business growth strategy. With responsibility to manage the operational budget, you will also explore other opportunities to control overheads.


This role will offer you the opportunity to utilise your well-balanced commercial approach, financial acumen and people management skills to directly influence the profitable growth of the SME business.

 

What will I be doing?


Key accountabilities are to;

  • Proactively manage all processes to secure the new business and renewal financial targets in the plan.
  • Drive process improvements to improve efficiency and evolve the operating model to be flexible to meet changing customer and market needs.
  • Manage the resource plan, to forecast peaks and troughs and deploy people to meet deliver business priorities.
  • Manage operating budget and headcount to meet delivery of the growth plans.
  • Lead and motivate employees to achieve income and profitability targets and deliver excellent customer service, building a culture of positive energy, empowerment, creativity and teamwork.
  • Ensure effective performance management of all employees including development, training and succession planning to raise the capability and performance of people to deliver business targets.
  • Contact customers on a regular basis to gain their feedback on trading appetite and service and take appropriate action to implement customer feedback to support retention.
  • Deliver all compliance in order to maintain high industry standards through commercial service. 



What will I need?

  • Progress towards ACII or Institute of Management qualification desirable.
  • Degree level or other equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Proven experience and ability to lead & motivate teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Pragmatic decision maker with good analytical and numerical reasoning skills.
  • Sound understanding of insurance market.
  • Experience of working in teams and successful record of delivering results.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and experience of building successful long term relationships both internal & external.
  • Extensive knowledge of the AXA Commercial product range.
  • Strong long & short term planning & analytical skills with proven experience of both operational & strategic planning in previous roles.
  • Strong and proven leadership skills with ability to motivate people positively.
